It's the bank holiday blues which have inspired me to begin this blog. As a child I spent the long weekend soaking up the best of British beaches (and occasionally the sun) with my family in Anglesey, Wales, a favoured spot of ours. But not this year.
For my first May Bank Holiday in London, armed with my best London girls Melissa and Philippa, our token occasional London girl Olivia (of thefashhunter.blogspot) and my good friend Tom I embarked on the perfect Sunday.
And where better to start than Bumpkin? A relatively new chain of restaurants (there are only three, all in London) boasting amazingly delicious British food, all sourced from sustainable farms. And there Sunday roast is arguably one of the best London has to offer.
There is a selection of roasted meats cooked just as you like served with a selection of seasonal vegetables and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. And for a Sunday treat, it was very reasonable too.
If you're wanting to go, I recommend you make a reservation as especially in Notting Hill, they get very busy. Book Online here http://www.bumpkinuk.com
To finish our afternoon we headed to another of my favourite Notting Hill spots, Beach Blanket Babylon. While I have never eaten here, the decor is absolutely heavenly and the cocktails are to die for. We were lucky with the gorgeous bank holiday weather so could sit out on their balcony while enjoying our cocktails and reminiscing on our previous bank holiday frivolities!
Check out their amazing cocktail (and food) menu here. http://www.beachblanket.co.uk/nottinghill/
