So when my best friend Jack suggested we meet up for drinks one night last week, it was the perfect opportunity to test out another rooftop bar. I'd heard a lot about Radio Rooftop at the ME Hotel on the strand, but knew it was notorious for being packed out with hotel guests and groups of co workers enjoying a cocktail or two. But luckily the night we went it wasn't too busy and were able to go straight in.
You're directed through a fabulous corridor of marble walls and unusual artwork to the lift where you're sent to the tenth floor. The lift opens into another world. Glass and marble surround the prism shaped room and in the centre, the bar itself is a hub of champagne, cocktails and gorgeous looking women with sophisticated, well-suited men.
We sat at the bar and ordered; a French Martini for me and a Noir Nights for Jack where we caught up on his exciting new venture (he's about to become a stylist for a new menswear designer) and the weeks news. We requested to sit outdoors but were told all of the seats were taken or reserved, something I'd definitely advise if you were wanting to make the most of the views. But after a while the hostess came over to us at the bar and told us there were seats available outside, and directed us to them.
While cocktails are a little on the expensive side (£11-£13) you really do pay for the atmosphere, with spectacular views of the Southbank and down The Strand, complete with a DJ booth that gets going later on into the evening.
After a couple of drinks, we headed off to meet up with Pippa and a pal of hers to continue the drinking!
