I know this because last week Jack and I went to see the lights turned on at Oxford Street. And when that happens, you know the festive season is truly here.
So we wrapped up warm and headed down to an incredibly busy Oxford Street. We hadn't booked tickets (you need tickets to stand in the road, who knew?) so were directed to a screen at the side of the makeshift stage outside Selfridges to watch the action.
Crammed in against everyone around us with about an inch of breathing space we patiently waited for the festivities to begin while catching up on all the gossip from the night before.
We waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
And almost an hour later than planned, the stage lit up. The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes, with performances from Connor Maynard, James Arthur and Jessie J, before finally the baubles/snowballs strung above London's most famous street were lit.
Even though it probably wasn't as good as Robbie last year (I'm partial because I love Robbie) it is still one of my favourite parts of welcoming in Christmas.
And all the excitement had made Jack and I that hungry that we couldn't even manage to wait until we got to the Haagen Dazs, so when we spotted a Byron on the way, we couldn't resist.
Girl vs Food began once again... and food definitely won!!
