But I guess that's fate for you.
And while grabbing lunch with a pal at The Burger and Lobster (previously blogged about here http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2136694058871593591#editor/target=post;postID=8864936441712416933;onPublishedMenu=posts;onClosedMenu=posts;postNum=5;src=postname) that is exactly what happened to me. Jake, a friend from home now happens to run the bar. And on such a coincidental meeting, it would have been rude not to grab a catch up drink later that day. With the promise of showing me "the greatest bar in London" how could I resist?
So that evening we headed to Artesian at the Langham (all info here http://london.langhamhotels.co.uk), and Jake was right, this really is the greatest bar in London. From the second we walked through the Victorian door, attention to detail and impeccable service oozed from the very heart of the hotel. We were greeted with genuine warmth, expert knowledge, and a fabulous glass of champagne (the best kind of greeting) while we browsed the spinning wheel menus.
I loved the look of so many cocktails (especially the Alice in Wonderland, naturally) but couldn't resist this mirror fronted cocktail, but the bar staff really will make you anything you can imagine. It may arrive wearing a hat, on top of an inflated panda, or flaked in gold (the espresso martini is an absolute must), and this just adds to the attention to detail.
I cannot recommend this bar, and its incredible staff enough for inventive and beautiful cocktails, an absolute London must. Thanks Jake, for introducing us, I know we're going to be the best of friends.
